Abstract (EN)
The aim of this research is to determine the architectural design problems experienced in accommodation facilities. The research was carried out on the managers, who were predicted to have design problems in accommodation facilities, in Alanya, Antalya, in September 2021. The research findings revealed that, the participant opinions consisted of 62 sub-themes grouped under 12 main themes which are facade problems, general areas problem, room problems, lobby problems, restaurants and bars problems, kitchen problems, other back workplace problems, management offices problems, staff areas problem, storage areas problems, outdoor facilities problems and other problems. According to the findings, the requests on increasing the number of the rooms and decreasing the construction cost by the owner are the main reasons of these problems. The requests of the owners appear as efactors that cannot be rejected or can be rejected up to a point by architects. In order to eliminate the aforementioned problems, it is suggested that professional chambers such as the chamber of architects and relevant public institutions should develop regulatory legislation. When the legislation concerning architectural designs is examined, it is seen that the legislation generally imposes numerical obligations, but does not address the issues related to quality. In addition to the design requirements requested in the legislation, it is foreseen that the content related to quality should be also be added.
