Abstract (EN)
PURPOSE: Our purpose in this study is to evaluate the efficiency of the endovenous radiofrequency ablation treatment on the treatment of superficial venous deficiency which is seen just a cosmetics problem by the society but can cause serious symptoms, reduces the life qualitiy of the patient and socioeconomically an important situation. MATERIAL AND METHOD: At the department of cardiovascular surgery of Atatürk University Medical Faculty, there had been made the study of retrospective record of patients(100) between the years of 2013 and 2016 got diagnosed with superficial venous deficiency and were applied endovenous radiofrequency ablation. The tracing of postoperative 1st month,6th month,12th month has been evaluated with venous doppler ultrasonography and clinically and the effectiveness of the practice has been evaluated in short and mid term. RESULT: Pain, the most frequent complaint, was seen on 57 patients(%57);swelling was seen on 50 patients(%50) while itching on 32 patients(%32),prostration on 46(%46) and cramp on 34 patients(%34). RFA treatment was performed on total sum of 119 extremities.Among these extremities which was applied RFA,43(%43) of them was on left lower extremity,33(&33) of them on right lower extremity,19(%19) of them on bilateral lower extremity.Among the patients who were applied VSM RFA,while 5 patients were applied RFA to right lower extremity, the contrary extremity was applied stripping because of the vein size(approximately has 12.4 mm size, maximum rate 16 mm,minimum rate 10 mm) and ablation catheter's unable to further due to the vein tortoise of ablation catheter. All of the chosen patients were applied on RFA VSM. About the postoperative evaluation of patients, ecchymose on2(%2) patients, hematom 2(%2) patients, bleeding extended to the area of mini phlebectomy on 5(%5) patients, paresthaesia on 2(%2) patients, are the most frequent minör complications. When preop and postop CEAP scores and VCSS scores were contrasted,a significant recovery was confirmed on the symptoms of the patients. CONCLUSION: Endovenous radiofrequency method which is applied on the treatment of superficial varicose veins does not only provide positive cosmetical results but also is one of the first options with low complication rates and operation success rates as an alternative to the classical surgical method.
