Abstract (EN)

Objectives: Our aim with this study is to investigate whether the proinflammatory marker ratios in whole blood are different in these two dementia diseases. Materials and Methods: This study will include patients with AD and vascular dementia who were treated as an outpatient and an inpatient in the Neurology Department of Adnan Menderes University Hospital. The diagnoses of the patients will be scanned from the hospital information system. The blood results of the patients who applied between January 2018 and September 2020 will be included in the first application. The hemogram results of the patients will be screened retrospectively. The neutrophil lymphocyte, monocyte lymphocyte and platelet lymphocyte ratios in the hemogram results will be calculated and recorded. Findings: It was determined that there was a significant difference between the variability of platelet/lymphocyte and neutrophil/lymphocyte ratios in the AH-VaD comparison of the patients participating in the study. (p<0.001). At the same time, a significant difference was found between the mean age of patients with vascular dementia and those with Alzheimer's dementia. (p<0.0001) Conclusion: While proinflammatory markers obtained secondary to inflammation are meaningful in AD because it is a chronic and progressive process; The use of these markers is limited in vascular dementia because of the cascading course after an acute event. However, additional studies on peripheral blood cells are needed to identify potential prodromal biomarkers of AD. Key words: Alzheimer's dementia, vascular dementia, NLR, proinflammatory markers
