Transform of Amasya's historical pattern in the 20th century: Analysis of the region in the site to the south of Yeşilırmak

Amasya has the feature of an open-air museum that has hosted many civilizations from the past to the present and accommodates the architectural works of these civilizations. This thesis aims to examine the change and transformation of the historical region, which includes examples of civil architecture and monumental structures of historical importance in the city centre of Amasya, from the past to the present. In this qualitative research, two different data collection methods were used. First of all, various documents, including literature sources, private and official archive sources, and local photographs, were reached. Then, the data collection process was supported by interviewing an archaeologist who is an expert in the field. The findings suggested that it has been revealed that natural disasters and fires experienced in the historical process have a significant impact on examples of civil architecture and structures of historical importance. It is expected to contribute to future research by describing the events that took place from the beginning of the 20th century to the present day on a designated area that is currently under protection as an urban site.
