This work is focused on making a researchabout, ?The Contributions of Practices in Texture Unit, which exists in Basic ArtEducation Course Program in Anatolian High Schools Grade 1, to Art Education.?During the research, the experimental screening model has been utilized.Data, which has been collected from two separate groups representing variousareas in Nevzat Ayaz Anatolian High School Grade 1, have been analyzed usingthe ?Controlled ex-ante test, ex-post test? model.Also the specified group, in the context of Texture Unit, has carried outrelief texture practices by using texture pasta on canvas.The results of this research have shown that, the usage of audio-visualmaterials in the Texture Unit have contributed to the learning process. It has beenobserved that the practices that have been realized by using several materials andtexture pasta, have improved the visual perception capacity, have developedoriginal work by enabling creativity and eventually have assisted in increasingself-confidence of the students. Additionally, it has been assessed that the relieftexture practices which were realized by using several materials have broughtabout the fact that the Course becomes a more lively, interesting and favoriteCourse.In this framework, the relief effect texture practices which exit in BasicArts Education Course enriching the content of the Course, bringing to light thecreativeness and contributing to arts training, it has been proposed that thesepractices should be included in Basic Arts Education.Key words: Arts education, high school student, basic arts education,texture, relief.
