Abstract (EN)

Aim: The aim is to investigate the effects of anaerobic power and leg volume on muscle damage occured after swimming exercise. Materials and Methods: 12 male athletes between the ages of 15-17 who are engaged in swimming in Antalya Province actively participated in the study by completing the "Informed Consent Form". The Wingate anaerobic power test (WAnT) was used to determine the anaerobic performance of subjects, and the Frustum method was used to determine the subject's leg volume (BH). A linear regression formula was used after this method was identified. The descriptiveness coefficient for this formula is R2 =, 95 and the predictive standard error is , 056. In this study blood samples were taken 5 times before-after, 24, 48, 72 hours after swimming exercise. TOTAL CK, CK-MB, TROPONIN and MYOGLOBIN blood parameters were analyzed with SIEMENS ADVIA CENTAUR XP biochemistry device to determine the muscle damage in the swimming. SPSS 20.0 statistical program was used for analysis of data. The "Shapiro-Wilk Test" was performed for the test of normality. In statistical analysis, minimum and maximum values, mean, standard deviation values were calculated. Correlation analysis was used for "Pearson" for normal distribution and "Spearman" for non-normal distribution in relation to anaerobic power and leg volume with muscle damage. Repeated-Measures ANOVA was performed to compare the muscle injury measurement times. The data were evaluated according to the level of "0,05" significance. Findings: When examining the RLV and AP, LLV and AP, TLH and AP, peak torque (W/kg) (r= ,713; p<0,05), average power (W/kg) (r= ,682; p<0,05) were statistically significant. It was observed that the resting TOTAL CK and CK-MB values before loading were lower than the values 24, 48 hours after loading (p<0.05). the increment in immediate after loading, 24, and 48 hours after loading than resting TOTAL CK values is a sign that muscle damage is happening in swimming (p<0.05). When the troponin values were examined, it was found that there was no significant difference between the results of RBL, IAL, 24, 48 and 72 HLL (p>0,05). Myoglobin values were found to be significantly increased IAL and 24 HLL, as in TOTAL CK and CK-MB values (p<0.05). However, it was observed that myoglobin values of swimmers returned resting level after 48 HLL and after 72 HLL. It was determined that the TOTAL CK, CK-MB, MYOGLOBIN values of the athletes returned to normal level after 72 HLL and difference was found statistically significant (p<0,05). When Peak Torque (PT) and muscle damage values of the players were examined, RBL with CK-MB (r =, 601; p <0,05), 72 HLL with CK-MB (r =, 764; p <0,05), when examining PT (W/kg) with muscle damage, 72 HLL with CK-MB (r= ,580; p<0,05), when examining Average Power (AP) and muscle damage, RBL with CK-MB (r= ,668, p<0,05), 48 HLL with CK-MB (r= ,641; p<0,05) 72 HLL with TOTAL CK (r= ,712; p<0,05) there were significant differences; There was no statistically significant correlation between AP (W/kg) and muscle damage. There were statistically significant negative correlation between When RLV and Muscle Damage values were examined, RBL and TOTAL CK (r= -,608; p<0,05), 72 HLL and TOTAL CK (r= -,654; p<0,05), when LLV and Muscle Damage values were examined, RBL and TOTAL CK (r= -,611; p<0,05), 72 HLL and TOTAL CK (r= -,656; p<0,05), when TLV and muscle damage were examined, RBL and TOTAL CK (r= -,609; p<0,05), 72 HLL and TOTAL CK (r= -,655; p<0,05. Results: As a result, according to the findings, we can say that if swimmers with bigger LV in elite, may have higher anaerobic power, that a significant amount of muscle damage occurs to the athletes during a swimming exercise and that swimmers with bigger LV are less exposed to muscle damage.
