Abstract (EN)

In this thesis, based on TBEC-2018 (Turkey Building Earthquake Code 2018), the effect of soil local class and analysis method on the seismic performance of reinforced concrete hospital structures is investigated. The study utilizes a computer-aided analysis program. Hatay province in Türkiye serves as the study area, and two different soil local classes (ZC and ZD) are considered for the same location. For each soil class, three analysis methods — Equivalent Earthquake Load Method (EELM), Response Spectrum Method (RSM), and Pushover Analysis (PA) — are applied. The model design and definition of earthquake effects follow the provisions of TBEC-2018, with analyses conducted under DD-2 earthquake ground motion level. The seismic behavior of the structures is evaluated within the irregularity criteria defined by the code, including torsional irregularity, stiffness irregularity between adjacent storeys (soft storey), relative storey drift control, second-order effects (P–Δ), and shear forces acting on the storeys. The findings demonstrate the influence of ground motion level, soil local class, and analysis method on structural irregularities and overall seismic performance, emphasizing that consideration of these parameters within the framework of TBEC-2018 is essential for achieving earthquake-resistant building design.
