Abstract (EN)

Objective of this study is to assess the potential use of Ankara Creek for irrigation purposes by determining the water quality. For this purpose; samples from 6 stations have been collected throughout four seasons and analysis for irrigation water parameters have been conducted. Results of analysis have been evaluated within the context of ?Water Pollution Control Regulation Directive for Technical Procedures?. Out of irrigation water parameters; electrical conductivity and changeable sodium percentage values have exceeded standards. It has also been determined that the use of Ankara Creek for the purpose of irrigation may create salinity. It has been statistically ascertained that, all samples obtained from Ankara Creek C3S1 (Usable) such as sodium absorption rate, sodium carbonate residue, chloride, sulfate, total salt concentration, boron concentration and pH are in irrigation class; under limiting values within the frame of other irrigation water quality parameters; and these values measured to have no change according to stations and seasons. In conclusion, in order to use Ankara Creek for irrigation purpose, it has been determined that the use shall be convenient after providing the suitability in terms of all irrigation water quality parameters.
