Investigation of theileria species in ticks in ankara and surroundings

Abstract (EN)

Tick-borne diseases cause significant health problems in many parts of the world. Parasitic pathogens infect humans and animals all over the world, and these pathogens are carried by vector ticks. The aim of this study is to investigate at the molecular level the Theileria spp. species that cause diseases and serious economic losses in ticks collected from Ankara and its surroundings. For this purpose, first of all, 191 tick samples were collected from Ankara and its surroundings. Theileria spp. species were examined using the conventional PCR method from the tick samples collected using the 18S RNA gene. As a result of this study, 4 samples were found positive (4/191) (%2.1). As a result of sequence analysis, 4 samples were found to be Theileria spp. İt is defined as. Theileria spp. was detected in male R.sanguineus sacs collected from dogs in Bartın province. As a result of this study, up-to-date veri on the prevalence of Theileria spp. species in ticks in Ankara and its surroundings was obtained. It is alsa appropriate to take the necessary precautions for tick control.
