Antalya Abdal Musa Lodgeand area of influence:Legendary foundation, history, overseas relations

Abdal Musa, known to have lived in the fourteenth century, is one of the Anatolian Abdals who were influential in the early stages of Bektashism. It is thought that he played an important role in connecting Janissary soldiers to Hacı Bektaş Veli as the founding pir during the Orhan Gazi period. The eleventh sheepskin rug out of twelve in ritual ceremonies of the Bektashi order is dedicated to Abdal Musa. He is highly respected among Alevi communities, and the lodge he founded has become one of the largest known orders of Bektashism in history. In the study, the historical personality of Abdal Musa and the influence of the dervish lodge he founded were investigated with different dimensions. In the first part, after the literature review, the historical background of the dervish tradition that created Abdal Musa is discussed and basic concepts are included. Then, the information available in the chronicles about Abdal Musa was evaluated. By following the legends, the myths were analyzed and their ties with the historical reality were investigated. Particular attention was paid to the myth-space relationship, and some conclusions were reached by reading the chapters in the field of Tekke village and referring to the views of the residents. In the second part, the historical development of the lodge is investigated. The effect and transformation of the OttomanSafavid tension on the dervishes and dervish tradition is emphasized and the results are discussed. It has been determined that the area where the lodge was established was located on trade routes throughout history, and the reasons for the integration of the lodges into the Ottoman social and economic system by meeting security and accommodation needs are clarified. The third chapter is devoted to the spread of Bektashism in the Eastern Mediterranean, and the effect of Abdal Musa Lodge on the process is discussed. The historical ties between the Bektashi traditions of Egypt, Crete and Antalya are investigated. In the fourth chapter called The Legacy of Abdal Musa, Abdal Musa in the Alevi Bektashi tradition, Abdal Musa in folk poetry, the authenticity of Tekke Village and Değirmenköy, and Abdal Musa in the memory of Akçaeniş Tahtacı Türkmen and Yörük are included. The traces of Abdal Musa in Burdur, Denizli and Aegean regions are investigated, and the study is completed with a conclusion and a general evaluation.
