Abstract (EN)
In this study, it was aimed to determine the seroprevalence of coronavirus in cats and dogs of different breeds, ages and genders, owned or living on the street in Antalya province, by rapid test method. For this purpose, blood samples taken from 100 cats of different structure, breed and gender, owned or living on the street, brought to our clinic in Muratpaşa district of Antalya province, were taken into EDTA tubes, and stool samples taken from 100 dogs of different breeds, ages and genders were tested with rapid test kits for antigen scanned. In the blood samples taken from cats, seropositivity was detected in 54 cats (54%). In 30 of 59 female cats used in the study (50.84%), 41 male cats were found to be positive. On the other hand, 24 of them (58.53%), 29 of 0-2 age group cats (29%), 15 (15%) in 3-4 age group, 4 (4%) in 5-6 age group, 7-8 age group Seropositivity rate was 3 (33%), 2 (2%) in the 9-10 age group, and 1 (1%) over 11 years old. When evaluated in terms of breed, the highest rate of seropositivity was found in scottish fold (20%) British shorthair (10%) and tabby cats (9%). In conclusion; In Antalya province, the detection of low levels of coronavirus antigens in feces in dogs and high levels of seropositivity in terms of coronavirus antibodies in blood in cats shows that the risks of coronavirus diseases are quite high for cats bred in this region.
