Abstract (EN)
The fading mechanism in colored textile material caused by the light effect occurs by degradation of the dyestuff structure with UV radiation and photooxidation in material with the visible light. In the thesis study, different solutions containing silica sol with crosslinker, crosslinker-free silica sol and only aqueous antioxidant solution were prepared by using antioxidants (l-ascorbic acid and gallic acid) which are also known as oxidation inhibitors as additives. Solutions were transferred to blue, red and yellow woven fabrics which contain %100 flax by applying pad-termofixation method at two different temperature (120˚C and 150˚C). In this way, it is aimed to examine the effects of the applied chemical process on light fastness of colored samples and to measure some physical properties of the samples. In the results, it was found that the use of gallic acid in combination with silica sols was suitable for improving the photostability of the materials. It is concluded that the antioxidant reduces the degree of the lightness (ΔL*) of the samples, the silica sol decreases the total color difference value (ΔE*) which are caused by light effect. Also it has been determined that addition of crosslinker to silica sol improves the light fastness of samples, increase the resistance to washing of the applied coating and the resistance to abrasion.
