Abstract (EN)

Aim: Purpose of the study; The aim is to examine and evaluate the relationship between coaches' communication skills and problem-solving skills. Material and Method: This study is in a descriptive relational screening model. The sample group of the study consists of 317 coaches working in the public and private sectors. Data; It was collected with a personal information form, Communication Skills Evaluation Scale and Problem Solving Skills Inventory. In the analysis of data; Student's T-Test was applied for groups of two, One-Way Analysis of Variance and Tukey's multiple comparison tests were applied for groups of more than two. The relationship level between the coaches' communication skills and problem-solving skills was evaluated with the Pearson correlation coefficient. Results: In the study, while there were no significant differences in the variables of gender, sport type, place of duty, level of athletes, and coaching level, significant differences were detected in some sub-dimensions and total scores in marital status, having children, age, education level and coaching experience. According to the correlation analysis results; The total score of the coaches' problem solving skills inventory and the avoidant sub-dimension are at a medium level; It was found that there was a positive, high level relationship in the hasty, thinking, evaluative, self-confident and planned sub-dimensions. In addition, it was determined that there was a low level positive relationship between the total score of the communication skills evaluation scale and the hasty approach sub-dimension, and a moderate positive relationship with the avoidant approach sub-dimension. A low level negative relationship was found in the thoughtful and planned approach sub-dimensions. Conclusions: In the study, it was concluded that there was a low relationship between the communication skills assessment scale and the hasty, thinking and planned approach sub-dimensions of the problem-solving skill inventory, and a medium level relationship with the avoidant approach sub-dimension.
