Abstract (EN)
The Assyrian State, which had an imperialist and expansionist political policy, extended its sovereignty to quite large regions in the Neo-Assyrian period, known as the imperial period, and became the most powerful empire of its period. Since the beginning of the Middle Assyrian State, the Middle Euphrates Region has been an important region that attracted the attention of Assyria. Although the Assyrian State, whose political and cultural sphere of influence in the Middle Euphrates Region went far beyond its natural borders, left a lot of data while taking these important lands under its domination, there are many unexplained issues regarding the existence of Assyria in the Middle Euphrates Region. For this reason, archaeological documents and data that will reveal the existence of both periods in the region were evaluated and how important the region was in both periods was investigated. Within the scope of the thesis, when the Middle and New Assyrian Kings started to be interested in the Middle Euphrates Region, the boundaries of their expansion areas, the expansion policies in the region, the political campaigns made in the region, the investments made, the cultural influence of Assyria on the region were evaluated by presenting archaeological data. The settlement models and strategies of the settlements showing the Assyrian presence in the Middle Euphrates Region, written documents, architectural elements, pottery groups, small finds and materials, relief-steles were tried to be examined based on archaeological data and materials. Within the scope of the thesis, there are sixteen settlements in the Middle Euphrates Region that bear the traces of Middle Assyrian and Neo-Assyrian existence.
