Synthesis and characterization of azomethine polymers containing aromatic unit

Abstract (EN)

In this study, schiff bases were synthesized by condensation reaction with 2 and 4-hydroxy benzaldehyde separately 4,4'-methylene dianiline and 4,4'-oxy dianiline. Polycondensation reaction of these Schiff bases obtained with diiyodo benzene polyazomethines were synthesized. The structures of the synthesized compounds were characterized by UV-vis, FT-IR and 1H-NMR techniques. Thermal properties of all the synthesized compounds is also determined by TGA, DTG, DTA and DSC analysis. Obtained compounds, photoluminescence (PL) properties were investigated by fluorescence spectroscopy in the DMF solution. The electrochemical properties of the synthesized compounds were investigated by cyclic voltammetry. The electrical conductivity of the synthesized polyazomethines were measured and showed a typical feature of semiconductor. The number average molecular weight, mass average molecular weight and polidisperslik index of obtained compounds were identified by Size Exclusion Chromatography (SEC).Keywords: Aromatic polyazomethines, Imine polymers, Polycondensation reaction, Thermal analysis.
