Abstract (EN)

Aim: To determine the variations of AS and the diameter and angle values of these vessels with differences between men and women. Material and method: For the study, images of 600 patients who were randomly selected from those who applied to the Radiology department of Turgut Özal Medical Center between January 2010 and January 2020 and whose arterial phase images were taken on contrast-enhanced thorax computed tomography were taken. By removing duplicate images from these images, 567 cases (311 men, 256 women) were included in the study. The cases were obtained with a new generation 256-slice CT device with a stellar detector system. The data obtained from the imaging results were evaluated by a radiologist for right AS variations with the PACS Sectra imaging system. Results: Five different types of variation were identified within the scope of the study. When the data were examined, Type-1 variation, in which five branches originated from the AS and this fifth branch was the ADS, was seen in 73 cases out of 567 cases (12.87%). The variation in which the ATI originates as the last branch of the AS, which we call Type-2, was seen in 2 cases out of 567 cases (0.35%). Type-3, in which ASS, a branch of the TTC, and ATI, one of the main branches of the AS, originate from the same point, were detected in 18 of 567 cases in our total sample (3.17%). Type-4, in which the TTC and its terminal branch, the ADS, had a common origin, was seen in a single case (0.17%). Type-5, in which the AS dextra originates from the proximal part of the aortae descendens after the AS sinistra, was detected in 5 cases (0.88%). Conclusion: According to the data, no statistically significant difference was detected between genders in terms of diameter and angle values of the variation types examined. The results show that the measurement parameters of the considered variation types remain in similar ranges, regardless of the gender factor. Keywords: Aberrant, Arteria subclavia, Artery anomaly.
