Abstract (EN)

In this study, tool performance in drilling process of AISI 1045 steel using HSS drill bits with plasma nitriding coated and uncoated has been investigated as experimental. Two types drill bits having uncoated and coated was used in experiments. The experiments were performed in dry cutting conditions and various cutting parameters (cutting speed, feed rate) were designated. The drilling process was performed CNC turning machine. Firstly, HSS drills bits were coated using plasma nitriding method. Surface roughness, diameter fault, chip forming and wears were determined in the drilling process using both coated and uncoated bits. Coated bits were investigated in EDS and scanning electro microscopy (SEM), coating thickness and mikco hardness were determined. The results show that a good coating was perform with plasma nitriding. Tool performance is better in plasma nitriding drills bits in compare with the uncoated and coated.
