Abstract (EN)
Today induction motors are widely used and preferred by the industry. Thesemotors are robust against load and supply variations and their efficiency is high whencompare to other types of motor. Fault detection in early time is important because ofpreventing extended process shutdown, health and safety problems, and power andmoney losses. In this study, first, induction motors faults types and fault prediction anddetection methods are examined. Then, one of the most common faults, stator windingfaults, are discussed. It is believed that stator winding faults start as undetected turn-toturnfaults within a coil, which lead to catastrophic phase-to-phase or phase-to-groundshort circuit faults. To achieve prior warning of failure for minimization of harmfuleffects, shorted turns within a stator winding coil must be detected or predicted via onlinemonitoring. In this thesis, to analyse stator winding short-circuit faults, a model of aninduction motor with shorted turns in stator winding is presented. The presented modelhas been simulated in MATLAB Simulink. Results are given for various workingconditions. Simulation results have been analysed by using FFT of motor current.
