Abstract (EN)

Web and mobile accessibility play a significant role in guaranteeing that services are equally accessed by people with disabilities, specifically older adults with age related incapacities. The aim of this research is to assess accessibility for elderly with low vision on web and mobile platforms. The study examines the effectiveness of several accessibility strategies, including text resizing, contrast adjustments, text-to-speech functionality, and language controlling. Accessibility principles and guidelines, common barriers and their proper solutions were declared as well. As a case study, we evaluated selected apps on our target groups to enhance accessibility by using latest guidelines. Additionally, combination of heuristic and accessibility evaluation methods were included. After evaluation, a new progressive web app has been created to show possible enhancement towards web and mobile accessibility. The research findings contribute to accessibility on web and mobile. By using combination of evaluation techniques, proper suggestions were introduced for enhancing accessibility. For creating an accessible app for end users in a proper way, prototypes were designed, then feedbacks were collected from UX experts to those prototypes. The main significance of this research is understanding deeper concepts, enhancing usability, anticipation of practical guidelines, raising awareness and advancement of knowledge regarding web and mobile accessibility.
