Abstract (EN)

When the Republic of Turkey was founded,all the systems including educational system were renewed. Also, Ottoman educational system was abandoned. When the new system was being formed, principles of Atatürk were taken as the base and the system was constructed on this base. Educational system was given the qualifications that would enable the country to develop and protect the national charactersitics. These were both the fundemental mentality of the educational system and the fundemental objectives to be achieved. The first significant law which identified the essentials of the new educational system was the law of Tevhid-i Tedrisat. This law provided the unity for education and the practices towards the secularization of education started. During the Atatürk era, the importance was attributed to teachers, students, curriculums, and the schools one by one in the educational policy. Many studies were done to increase the number of students having education all over the country, to educate qualified and adequate number of teachers, to make curriculums be in harmony with basic principles of the state, to end the difficulties of the schools.Education experts were brought from the western countries. In the new educational system and policy, it was tried to educate every citizen without any privilege. For this aim, public education studies were done. The activities concerning education were supported with cultural reforms. Letter Revulotion and History and Language Reform affected education policy and faciliated education. The quality of education rised in the ratio of the studies done in the field of education in this era.
