Abstract (EN)

Utilization of fosil fuels to meet increasingly growing energy demand caused global warming and acid rains. For this reason, search for clean and high energy fuels has gained considerable attention over the last fifty years.Hydrogen is a clean and high energy ( 122 kJ g-1) fuel with reduced green house gas emission. Processes developed for hydrogen gas production are energy intensive.Because of high acetic acid content of vinegar fermentation wastewater, hydrogen gas production by electrohydrolysis presents a novel and promising approach.Hydrogen gas production by electrohydrolysis of vinegar fermentation wastewater was investigated in this study. Effects of different parameters such as applied direct current voltage, COD content of the wastewater, type of electrodes, scrap aluminum and salt addition on hydrogen gas production were investigated systematically.Optimum voltage was determined as 4 V, optimum initial COD concentration was determined as 48,6 g/l and optimum electrod type was determined as aluminum. İn the experiments which was investigated the effect of scrap aluminium and salt, both scrap aluminium and salt added experiment was maximized the hydrogen gas production.
