ABSTRACT THE ATTITUDES OF TEACHING STAFF AND STUDENTS TOWARDS THE PREPARATORY CURRICULUM OF THE DEPARTMENT OF FOREIGN LANGUAGES IN THE UNIVERSITY OF GAZİANTEP TOKER, Olga M. A. in Educational Sciences Supervisor: Assoc. Prof. Dr. Erdal CEYHAN January, 1999 The purpose of this study was to investigate the attitudes of teaching staff and the students toward the Preparatory School Curriculum in the University of Gaziantep, and to give a general information about the Preparatory School Phenomenon. The subjects of this study consisted of 120 students selected randomly among freshman classes, and 35 instructors in Preparatory section. In this study, the differences between the attitudes of freshman students and the ones of Preparatory School instructors were analysed. In order to collect data, a questionnaire was conducted and administered to these subjects. The data were analysed by using chi square(non-parametric test of significance ). The percentages of the results were illustrated in the tables. In the end, a summary of the study, a conclusion and further recommendations were presented. Science Code: ELT 599 HI
