European employment policy

Abstract (EN)

In establishment years of the European Union?s whose foundation is laid by European Coal and Steel Community it is discussed that if social policies should take part in agreements. Today, however, this issue has given its place to a discussion of whether employment policy will be handled at the Union level or not. This study is towards explanation of this point that is reached. In the first part, information about European Union institutions and European Union law is given. In the second part, description of employment policy and related concepts is made and history of transformation from social policy to employment policy in the EU is examined. In the third part, arrangements take part in establishing treaty and general characteristics of employment policy are handled. In the fourth and last part, European Employment Strategy is discussed and Turkey?s harmonization with European Employment Policy in the process of full membership is touched on.
