Abstract (EN)
Within the meaning of the Competition Law, merger control which is the act of controlling concentrations is considered one of the most important subjects. Although the new entities composed of several undertakings contribute numerous benefits to the economic markets, nevertheless they also carry the risk of significant impediment of effective competition. Consequently, the necessity of controlling concentrations and creating the institutional structuring has been in existance in many judicial systems. Within European Union Competition Law, legal regulations which are the guidance for many legal systems, are presented in detail and the fundamental amendments on these regulations were identified as a result of the experiments performed during different periods.The objective of this dissertation is to handle the controlling process of concentrations. The dissertation is divided into three chapters. In the first chapter, concentrations are explained and evaluated within the conceptual scope. In the following chapter the process of merger control is evaluated together with the legal regulations and cases which set up the environment for the appearance of these regulations and development process of European Union Competition Law is analyzed.
