Turkey?s position in the European Security and Defence Policy

Abstract (EN)

In Europe a new security system can attune to security perception and state of affairs for the reason of new threats appeared depending on the transformation over the international system due to the end of the Cold War became statue of obligation. The European Union (EU) as the leading instrument in this phase, has taken some steps, for various reasons to establish an independent defense mechanism and toward to this aim takes the European Security and Defense Policy (ESDP) in its agenda. This study will scrutinize position of Turkey during this period and potential by examining historical structure until subjected the ESDP evolution by trying to set up success and success potential of the ESDP.Especially today, above mentioned developments have been exposing impacts of Turkey over the European security system and over the national security policies. In this context, Turkey claims to establish structural ally with the ESDP for not opt out of the EU and not to incur any losses on point of view of its national security. Therefore, in our study by taking agreements/negotiations/conferences as a base within this understanding we will expose and make evaluations what will be the Turkey?s reservations and contributions related to the ESDP.Key Words1.
