Abstract (EN)

The effects of minimalism, a hybrid approach between short and essence, have progressively improved from its birth to the present. In this progress, as it spread to other branches of art, the dimensions and leaps that it reached in graphic design showed developments with today's technology. Shortness, simplicity and essence; we all know that something is what, how it is and essence is the original structure of an being. The form that makes it a being is its essence. The essence exists and it is constant. The essence is simplicity and shortness. The essence: Not confused, not simple. Easy to understand. In short, it is a permanently constant. It emerges in every moment of our lives with graphic design without being aware. The graphic design exists to facilitate our lives and to inform us. This is why we can better perceive the messages and facts if we are away from complexity. For this, the place of minimalism in graphic design is significant. If the graphic design which makes our lives easier and the minimalism that represents simplicity intersect in a path, we can quickly reach the clarity which is the main goal. Minimalism makes detection easier. On this point; if the messages are short and simple - in other saying "uncomplicated", they can help to reach goals more quickly. This simplicity and shortness, which is the main feature of minimalism, will help us to be better in graphic design. In the first part of the thesis; problem situation, aim, importance, restrictions and method are indicated. In the second part of the thesis; what is minimalism, how it emerged, its formation and its pioneering artists are indicated. The third part of the research is as to what is graphic design and its birth. In the fourth part; reflections of minimalism on graphic design have been investigated and has been compiled. Finally, they have been turned into a resource.
