Abstract (EN)

Abstract One of the ethnos that has a unikue place in the multi-ethnic unity of Azerbaijan is the İngiloi people. Due to the political and religious pressures of many states, deep wounds have occurred in the history of this nation, which has a very old origin. İngiloimen who accepted the religion of İslam of their own free will during the caliphate period of İslam. They have adhered to this religion throughout history. However, starting from 1800, the CHristiyanization policy towards the İngiloimen in the region started by the Tsar Russia. For this reason, Tsarist Russia granted many privileges to the İngiloimen, with their ehemption from tahes, and in return demanded that they become CHristiyans and leave the Car-Balaken consensus, which they were affiliated with, and pressured them from time to time. Despite all this, the İngiloimen did not abandon their religion and national identity, on the contrary, they rebelled against the Russians from time to time and resisted this policy together, and when necessary, they became martyrs by fighting for this cause. In this research, we have also focused on the ethnic identities of the İngiloimen, but we have given priority to their religious identities. In particular, we have studied the İslamization of the İngiloimen, their peak in science and wisdom in the Ottoman period, and the effect of the CHristiyanization policy of the Tsarist Russia on the İngiloimen.
