Dr. Ferit KARGIN The study carried out at 10 stations in Babadıllimanı Bight (Silifke-İçel) in the period of May- 1999 and April-2000. The quantitative and qualitative distribution of phytoplankton, the relations of species with temperature, salinity and the changes in specifications in time were investigated. Sampling was done monthly intervals in each station and at the standard depths in a determined station. In addition to quantitative and qualitative examination of phytoplankton; nutrient and klorofil-a analysis; salinity and temperature measurement were also done. In study, five algae classis namely Cyanophyceae, Bacillariophyceae, Dictyochophyceae, Dinophyceae and Prymnesiophyceae were determined. Bacillariophyceae was found richer than other grups in terms of abundance and species number and followed by Dinophyceae. Prymnesiophyceae was represented by 4 genus and 5 species, Cyanophyceae and Dictyochophyceae were represented by only one species. The concentration of phosphate, nitrate and silicate during the research period ranged between 0.04-2.46 ?g-at/1, 0.13-2.47 ?g-at/1, 0.16-2.25 ?g-at/1 respectively. Chlorophyll-a concentrations varied between 0.01 and 0.86 ?g-at/1. Keywords: Babadıllimanı Bight, Phytoplankton, Nutrient, Chlorophyll-a
