The bryophyte flora of Bafra district (Samsun)

Abstract (EN)

This study was presented the bryodiversity of Bafra which is district of Samsun province. Field trips were organized to the research area between the years throughout the different 2014 and 2015. Throughout these research of 476 bryophyte specimens were collected from 40 sampling points. The finding obtained together with 33 from Marchantiophyta (liverworts), 133 from Bryophyta (mosses) of the area, in total 166 specific and infraspecific taxa, belonging to 50 families and 99 genera, have been identified from the area. When looking the distribution defined of taxa according to their families, the richest ones are Pottiaceae (25), Brachytheciaceae (24), Mniaceae (10), Orthotrichaceae (10) ve Amblystegiaceae (9) for mosses, Lophocoleaceae (4), Marchantiaceae (3), Porellaceae (3) for liverworts. The richest genera are Orthotrichum (10), Plagiomnium (6), Hypnum (6) ve Fissidens (5) for mosses, Marchantia (3), Lophocolea (3) ve Porella (3) for liverworts. However, there was not found any taxa of Anthocerotophyta (Hornworts) in collected samples from the study area. As a result, 47 specific and infraspecific taxa have been regarded as the new records for square A3 according to the Henderson (1961) Grid System. Moreover, Scapania scandica (Arnell & H. Buch) Macvicar has been identified as the new record for Bryophyte Flora of Turkey. In the floristic list, the taxa are presented in a systematical hierarchy with their collected localities, distribution both in Turkey and in the world, some of ecological features and life forms.
