Review of education process of classified basketball officials and expectancy levels

The purpose of the study is the review of opinions of classified basketball officials serving within the scope of Turkish Basketball Federation in the basketball season 2012-2013 on the education process of basketball refereeing and determination of their expectancy level.Research staff consists of 150 classified officials including 8 FİBA, 11 A-level, 35 B-level and 96 C-level classified officials from 276 basketball officials serving within the scope of Turkish Basketball Federation in the basketball season 2012-2013.Two-part survey form is used as the means of data collection in the study. The first part of the survey form includes 10 questions intended for the personal informations of officials and the second part includes 29 articles assessing the efficiency of education seminars for classified officials and the candidate official training courses.As a result of the normality test for the analysis of the data, within the variable groups having normal distrubition, t test is applied for the paired comparisons and Anova test is applied for the multiple comparisons. Kruskal Wallis test is applied for the variable groups having abnormal distribution. The significance level is determined as 0,05.As a consequence of the study,1) When the opinions on the efficiency of candidate official training courses are examined in terms of classification, refereeing year and education level, thoughts finding the education in the candidate official training courses efficient draw the attention. However it is observed that FİBA officials, officials serving for 12-14 years and officials education level of whom are at doctorate level find the candidate official training courses inefficient.2) While the officials generally think that the education environment of the training seminars are efficient, it is observed that officials in the groups of 12-14 and 15-19 years in terms of refereeing year, FİBA officials and the officials education level of whom are at doctorate level find the education environment less efficient than the rest of officials.3) Among the opinions on the efficieny of planning of training seminars, thoughts finding the educations efficient come into prominence. When the refereeing years of the officials in the study are considered, all groups except for the 12-14 year group find the planning of the training seminars efficient. When the education levels of the officials in the study are considered, the opinion that the planning of the training seminars is efficient dominates though officials having doctorate education find it less efficient than the rest.
