Abstract (EN)
The purpose of this research: to examine the relationship between physical activity levels and academic achievement of 10-14 year old boys who play basketball. 126 male students studying in the 5th, 6th, 7th and 8th grades of middle school who participated in the 2023-2024 school sports basketball junior and star boys provincial championship tournament residing in Malatya province participated in the study voluntarily. A personal information form was used to determine the demographic information and year-end success scores of the students participating in the study, and the Physical Activity Scale for Children, developed by Crocker et al (1997) and whose Turkish validity and reliability studies were conducted by Tanır (2013). The analysis of the research data was performed with the SPSS 24.0 statistical data analysis program. Frequency (f) and percentage (%) analysis were performed to determine the demographic, educational status, sports history, distribution of characteristics related to parents and physical activity level of the students participating in the research. In order to determine the internal consistency status of the research data, Cronbach Alpha coefficient was calculated. Crosstab and Chi-square analysis were performed in order to determine the distribution status of students' end-of-year grade point averages according to the type of school. In order to determine the level of differentiation in physical activity levels according to the characteristics of the students, t Test and ANOVA test were applied. In the significance analysis, p=0.05 was taken as. As a result of the research, there is no statistically significant difference between the age, grade level, educational status of the students' father and mother, demographic information and physical activity level Deci-Decently of the participating students (p>0.05), while there is a statistically significant difference between the type of school and the end-of-year grade point averages of the students (X2=0.000). There is a statistically significant difference between the type of school and the level of physical activity of students (X2=0.031). There is a statistically significant difference between the students' end-of-year grade Deciency average and physical activity level (X2=0.000). There is a statistically significant difference between the demographic information of the students participating in the study, school type, end-of-year grade point average, club athlete status, licensed athlete status, licensed athlete year, sports interest status of the father and mother of the students and physical activity level (p<0,05). The average physical activity of the students was 4.23 ±0.681. According to this, it can be said that the physical activity level of the students participating in the research is at a high level and the academic achievements of the students participating in physical activity are high (X2=0,000).
