Abstract (EN)

Throughout history, biological agents have been used against soldiers and civilians. Health workers are also affected by biological agents. In this context, knowledge and perception levels of health workers gain importance. The aim of this study was to determine the level of bioterrorism knowledge of 112 employees and nurses working in Bayburt State Hospital and to produce solutions and suggestions according to the results. This is a cross-sectional study. This is a cross - sectional study. A scale on bioterrorism was developed by literature review. Expert opinion was taken when developing the scale. The reliability of the scale was high (Cronbach's Alpha value = 0.892). The universe is composed of 204 health personnel. The scale was applied to 115 health care workers selected by simple random sampling method and the results were analyzed with SPSS 22 program on computer. Student's t test and chi-square test were used for statistical analysis. 42.6% of the health personnel in the research group were male and 57.4% were female. It was found that only 22.6% of the health personnel in the research group intervened in the patients exposed to the biological agent. It was found that rural health personnel intervened in patients exposed to more biological agents than health personnel working in urban areas. The average level of knowledge of bioterrorism was found to be 3.01 ± 0.43. Presence of a disaster or emergency plan was found to be below 50%, the status of the health personnel to examine the plan was very low, the status of bioterrorism in the plan was very low, the rate of participation in disaster drill was low, and the rate of drill bioterrorism was low. Disaster and emergency plans should be made to all stations and hospitals, after the training should be provided about the plan and the plan should include bioterrorism. Disaster training should also include bioterrorism. Keywords: Bioterrorism, Knowledge Level, Health Personnel
