ABSTRACT Master of Science Thesis SYNTHESIS OF SOME 2-SUBSTITUE ANILINE AND BENZENE-l,3-DIOL AND MONOAZO COMPOUNDS Emel Ermiş Anadolu University Graduate School of Natural and Applied Science Chemistry Department Supervisor: Asst. Prof. Dr. Halil Berber 2003, 64 pages In this study, dyestuffs of monoazo were synthetized by using six o- substitue aniline and benzene 1-3 diol compounds and characterized. In the first step of the study, o-substitue aniline compounds were sulfonated in order to get them soluble in water. In the second step, azo-coupling reaction was carried out between benzene- 1,3-diol and both o-substitue aniline and water soluble aniline compounds. So, dyestuffs of monoazo were obtained. In the last step, the structures of synthetized monoazo compounds were characterized by using spectroscopic methods. Keywords: o-substitue aniline, benzene 1-3 diol, dyestuffs of monoazo
