Abstract (EN)

Community service practices course has an important role in integration of universities with societies and provides a significant opportunity for students to participate in activities conducted across various fields by cooperating with civil foundations, it is also crucial for students to find useful occasions for the public.This research was carried out with the aim of investigating physical education and sports teaching students perception level of community service practice course.In this research, first of all, literature review related to education, physical education and sports, recreation, sports management and community service practices was conducted. Then, data were elicited by giving questionnaires to the fourth-year students at the Department of Physical Education and Sports, Vocational School of Physical Education and Sports and Sports Management, Faculty of Education, Sakarya University in 2010-2011 Academic Year. 150 students were accessed and retrieved information was evaluated.SPPSS (Statistical Package for Social Sciences) for windows 17.0 was used to evaluate the findings elicited from the study. Descriptive statistical methods (Frequency, Percentage, Mean, standard Deviation) were used to evaluate the data of the study. T-test, anova, correlation analyses were carried out as hypothesis tests. Results were evaluated at 95% confidence interval and significance was at p<0,05 level as bidirectional.As a result of analyses, when perception levels of students taking physical and sports education related to community service practices have been considered in accordance with demographic variables such as gender, age, monthly family income, individual expenditure amount and mostly lived place, a significant difference has not been found. However, when perception levels of participant students taking physical and Sports Education related to community service practices have been considered according to the department variable, significant differences have been observed.It is thought that this study may have a contribution to students taking Physical and Sports Education in having more effective and productive community service practices course.Key Words: Physical Education, Sports, Community, Community Service.
