Evaluation of knowledge, attitudes and behaviors of nutrition and dietetics students and dietitians on food supplements: The case of Antalya province

Abstract (EN)

This research aims to evaluate the knowledge, attitudes and behaviors of dietitians and nutrition and dietetics students residing in Antalya about food supplements. The research, which is descriptive and cross-sectional, was conducted between January and April 2023 with 206 nutrition/dietetics students and dietitians who agreed to participate in the research. A data collection form prepared by the researchers based on the literature was used as a data collection tool. Data was collected face to face and online via Google form. According to the analysis of the data obtained from the research; It was found that there was no significant difference between students and dietitians regarding the participants' sources of information about food supplements, their use of food supplements, ways of supplying them, the food supplements they used, their indications for use, the food supplements they recommended and their indications for recommending them. As a result, this study found that dietitians use and recommend food supplements more than nutrition and dietetics students. Key Words: Food Supplements, Nutrition, Dietitian, Student
