Abstract (EN)

In this study, it was aimed to measure wisdom with performance scales and to examine the relationship between wisdom and well-being. Mixed method was used in this study. 30 lecturers participated in the study. Data collection tools were Personal Information Form, Berlin Wisdom Paradigm Life Assessment Semi-Structured Interview Form (general wisdom), Berlin Wisdom Paradigm Life Planning Semi-Structured Interview Form (general wisdom), Bremen Wisdom Paradigm Semi-Structured Interview Form (self-related wisdom), and Warwick-Edinburgh Mental Well-Being Scale. The data collected in the research were analyzed with the SPSS 22.0 program. In the analysis of quantitative data, the conformity of the data to the normal distribution was determined by using skewness, kurtosis and standard error values. Frequency, percentage, mean and standard deviation values were used in the descriptive evaluation of the data. Mann Whitney U test, one of the non-parametric tests, was used to determine whether there was a difference in wisdom performances according to gender. Kruskal Wallis test, one of the non-parametric tests, was used to determine whether there was a difference in wisdom performances according to age. According to the findings, there is no significant relationship between both general wisdom performance scores (life planning and life assessment) and self-related wisdom scores and well-being. There is no significant difference in the averages of both general wisdom and self-related wisdom performance of the participants in the gender-related groups. In terms of age and wisdom, there is a significant difference between the wisdom performance of the participants and the age variable in both general wisdom and self-related wisdom domains. The lowest performance in both types of wisdom belongs to the 22-27 age group. A significant relationship was found between the general wisdom performance scores of the participants and their self-related wisdom performance scores. The findings of the research were discussed and suggestions were made for those working in the field of psychology. Keywords: Wisdom, general wisdom, self-related wisdom, Berlin Wisdom Paradigm, implicit theory, well-being, positive psychology.
