Information society and surveillance technologies

In this thesis, the effects of the formation of the information society and the transition to the surveillance society have been evaluated, and they have been discussed with the dimensions of the ethical and the protection of private life in the social structure by emphasizing the surveillance practices. In today's existing societies, information and communication technologies become a symbol of power for companies, governments and states, the use of this power under the name of management and control mechanism and the results of this use are discussed. In the developing new structure of surveillance society, the privacy or deliberate destruction of individuals' privacy leads to ethical violations of the ever-widening boundaries of surveillance. The use of information technologies in every area, turning "home" and other individual areas into a control area, on the other hand, with the use of internet and social networks, individuals' voluntary private life violations cause technologies to move private areas to the public domain. Surveillance practices, which are continued to be used in every field, go beyond the borders day by day and the borders of the private area are becoming increasingly uncertain.
