Abstract (EN)
The development of technology in electrical and electronic items, and increasing prosperity, consumption of electronic products generate electronic waste that is a new typeof waste. A lot of precious metals and harmful compunds are available in e-waste. Precious metals must contribute to national economy, and detrimental effects of harmful compounds must be prevented from environment and human health. For this reason, E-waste must be recycled and recovered in formal licensed and certificated recycling facilities. E-waste constantly progresses and changes. E-waste is always in dynamic progresses. Because of this, the workers in the recycling facilities expose to these changing hazards. One of the most changing and developing products among e-wastes is computer. In this thesis study, an end-of-life laptop was dismantled. All compounds of this laptop were weighed and chemical compounds were examined one by one. While recycling a laptop, which processes were implemented and what the hazards that the workers in these facilities exposed to were examined. To reduce occupational expositions of the workers in licensed recycling facilities, national- international regulations and standards were examined ,and ıt was examined whether legislative regulations in Turkey are sufficient or not. To reduce the hazards that the workers in recycling facilities expose, harmful items must be limited in the production of electrical and electronic devices. Turkey must be establish a recycling policy. Turkey must impose restriction for harmful items in electrical and electronic devices. These limitations in national regulations must be more effective and up-to-date than international regulations and standards. Key words: E-waste, Compounds of a computer, Occupational health, Occupational exposure
