Assessment of job satisfaction and organizational commitment of physicians working hospital in Bingöl city center

Abstract (EN)
This study has been carried out with the aim of assessing physicians' job satisfaction and their organizational commitment to the hospital in which they work.Being cross-sectional and descriptive, the study covers all of 73 working in State Hospital, Obstetrics and Nursing Hospital and Private Uzmanlar Medical Center in the city centre of Bingöl. As a means of data collection, Personal Infomation Form, Job Satisfaction and Organisational Commitment scales have been used.In this study, 69.9 % of participant physicians are in the range of 30-39, 72.6% are married, 83.6 % are male and the spouse of 61% are postgraduated. 64.4 of the physicians are working in State Hospital, 21.9 % of them in Obstetrics and 13.7% are in Nursing Hospital and Private Uzmanlar Medical Center. As the physicians getting older the hierarchical relations with physical conditions have been observed to raise the job satisfaction meaningfully in sub-scales. (p<0.05). The total average of job satisfaction of all the physicians participated in the study has been found as 127.67±12.67. The difference between total average points of job satisfaction obtained from tree hospital has been statistically meaningful (p=0.025) and the average points of the physicians in Private Uzmanlar Medical Center were found to be the highest. Total average points of organizational commitment for all physicians were found to be 48.20±6.87. There was no statistically significant differences in total average points of organizational commitment (p=0.860). But, physicians working in Private Uzmanlar Medical Center have the highest total average points of organizational commitment The emotional commitment of single physicians has been found meaningfully higher than those married physicians (p=0.047).As a conclusion; new policies need to be put into effect to increase the job satisfaction and organizational commitment of the physicians working in State Hospital, Obstetrics and Nursing Hospital and Private Uzmanlar Medical Center and it is recommended (believed) that the necessary precautions should be taken to improve the factors negatively affecting the job satisfaction and organizational commitment of the physicians.Key Words: Job Satisfaction, Organizational Commitment, Hospital, Physicians
