Abstract (TR)

Neuropathy is the most common diabetic complication. The patient with type 1 or type 2 diabetes will almost certainly have had a long period (perhaps years) of impaired glucose metabolism by the time they are diagnosed. This is especially true in people with type 2 diabetes, who are often "found" to be diabetic when they present with symptoms and signs of neuropathy. Oxidative stress, on the other hand, may play a role in the pathophysiology of diabetes and its consequences, such as neuropathy. So it is important to study some trace elements that proved its activity as antioxidants such as selenium and chromium. In this work, we will try to find the possible relations between serum selenium and chromium levels and each one of inflammatory parameters relevant to neuropathy such as C - reactive protein, erythrocyte sedimentation rate. Besides, to shed a light on the possible relations between the mentioned trace elements and HbA1c,FBG to provide information about their role in neuropathy. The findings revealed that selenium, chromium have an inverse association CRP, ESR, FBG, HbA1C and all of them have statistically significant differences except for the absence of a difference between age and BMI. The subjects of this study are from Dhi Qar Governorate / Iraq, where the study will be conducted. The study needs at least 105 models including 35 patients with diabetic polyneuropathy in addition to 35 diabetics and 35 healthy volunteers to obtain normal values for the studied criteria.
