Mentality of a sixteenth-century literate: Tercüman Murad and his Tesviyetü't-Teveccüh ile'l-Hak

In this thesis, Murad Bey's life, a Christian convert to Islam who was a dragoman of the Sublime Porte in the second half of the sixteenth-century, and his treatise titled Tesviyetü't-Teveccüh ile'l-Hak in which he tried to introduce the religion of Islam to Christians and to demonstrate them why their religion is false are examined. In the first two chapters, Murad Bey's life as a dragoman and the historical context of this life story are analysed. In the last two chapters Murad Bey's mentality is tried to be comprehended according to his treatise.
