Abstract (EN)

Ibrahim Müteferrika was born in Kolozsvár in the Transylvanian region and have received Christian education. Müteferrika, who came to Ottoman lands at the beginning of the 18th century with the ideas of cultural diversity of the Transylvania region, developed himself in the Ottoman language and culture and gained an important place in the Ottoman cultural world. He exhibited his multi-identity structure and his own interactions with his contributions to the published works in the printing house established with the official approval of the Ottoman administration. He synthesized all these worlds of ideas in his works. It has influenced both cultures by benefiting from both cultures with its identities that can co-exist simultaneously and without conflict. In the thesis, Müteferrika has been examined through the concept of "transculturality". This thesis aims to go beyond the narrative that the Ottoman cultural world exists with a monolithic understanding and exemplifies this structure, which is nourished by different cultures, through Müteferrika.
