Abstract (EN)

Butterfly valves which are commonly used for control of fluids in installations, are preferred in order not to affect negatively when they are used with current circuit elements, since they are easy to use, cheaper and take less space in volume. In this study, cavitating regions were identified by the help of CFD Simulation software package that uses the finite volume method under 1, 2, 3 and 4 bar pressure difference of a DN 200 standard butterfly valve, opening to the atmosphere and continues in the system. While using the CFD Simulation programs water is selected as the fluid. During totaly closed position the valve flaps were in the θ = 0°. Firstly, butterfly valve model was created, and the model which was formed according to the manufacturing method was analyzed identifying the same materials in the CFD Simulation program. According to the results of the analysis it is seen and discussed that the cavitating regions were between 30⁰ and 80⁰ under 1, 2, 3 and 4 bar pressure difference in the butterfly valves opening to the atmosphere. Also in the analysis it is seen and discussed that using the same pressure difference values the major of the cavitation became intense between 60⁰and 80⁰.
