Abstract (EN)
In this study entitled ?Meaning in Video As a Paradox? using the experimental language of video, the concepts of visual reality, factuality, meaning, time and duration were questioned within a philosophical and artistic framework. Throughout the study experimental video films were made. In these short experimental films which were made as fictions in real locations and using film montaging techniques, some premises about artistic video were proposed. Within the context, spoken language was questioned as the unique object of communication expressing the self and thought schemata. It was shown that visual reality, objects and any image taken from the nature bear a dialectic structure in itself. In the relationship between seeing and language, however, the obligatory use of language in order to express and load meaning to what has been observed stems from the dialectic nature of the language. The dialectic thought due to its analytical, decision making and acting processes releases us from wedding to illusions of visual reality experimented. Visual reality weds human, with his objectivity, to the materialistic/physical structure of the world he lives in. As a result of these ties he grows some judgments. Judgment is an end, yet, art and its pieces questioning the reality as well as presenting conditions for alternative worlds, transform this reality and its illusions using the language of art. The art seeks for fact through reality. As fact in art overlaps a process but end, art creates an unnamed, subjective and multilingual structure. Through questioning the dialectic structure of written language and reality-image relationship artistic video proposals were made. The relationship between fact and process was questioned in the videos in flowing pictures within the interrelations of processes. In order to derive real image behind objective image the metaphoric language of art was used through meanings and images. The experimental video films were made using digital camera and filming techniques.
