Abstract (EN)
As a fundamental human right, the right to work is recognized in several national and international legal instruments. It is particularly regulated in detail by Article 6 of the International Covenant on Economic, Social and Cultural Rights, to which Turkey is a party. In General Comment No. 18 of the United Nations Committee on Economic, Social and Cultural Rights, many issues such as normative content of the right to work and States Parties' obligations are comprehensively explained. The right to work is not equivalent to "the right to employment" since it encompasses many other rights, such as the right to protection of employment. Freedom to work, prohibition of slavery and servitude and freedom from forced and compulsory labour are also within its scope. Moreover, the right of everyone to the enjoyment of just and favourable conditions of work is strictly linked to the right to work. Keywords: Constitutional Law, Human Rights, Social Rights, Freedom to Work, The Right to Work.
