ABSTRACT PhD Thesis MODELING AND CONTROL OF AN AIRCRAFT FOR COORDINATED TURN BY MODEL REFERENCE CONTROL HAKAN KORUL Anadolu University Graduate School of Natural and Applied Sciences Civil Aviation Program Supervisor: AssocProf.Osman PARLAKTUNA 2003, 83 pages In this thesis, modeling and control of an aircraft is considered. The aircraft is planned to make a coordinated turn with a single command of control system or pilot. The system is modelled by transfer matrix and the dynamics of the system is represented as transfer functions whose transfer function parameters are made of dimensionless stability derivatives. Dynamics of the aircraft and controller are solved by a simulation program developed in MATLAB in order to find the response of the system. A model reference controller is designed for multi-input multi-output system to achieve a wing level steady turning flight Simulation results for the designed controller are presented. Keywords: Transfer Matrix, Flight Control Systems, Model Reference Control 11
