Comparison of key values of primary school students in the multi-grade and in the single-grade

In this study, the perceptions of 3rd and 4th grade students in multi-grade and single-grade classes about the principle values in the updated curricula in 2018 were compared. In this research in which mixed method was used, both quantitative and qualitative approaches were followed. As a quantitative data collection tool, "Case Study/Status Form" and "Personal Information Form" developed by the researcher were applied. In the qualitative dimension, "Opinion Form on Principle Values" developed by the researcher was used. As a result of the research, it was found out that the single-grade students mostly had the principle values of justice, friendship and respect while multi-grade students mostly had the principle values of patience, responsibility and helpfulness. When the students' opinions about principle values were examined, it was determined that the perception of principle values of the students studying in two different class types differed. It is a noteworthy finding that both the multi-grade and single-grade students had limited expressions about the value of self-control. In general, it was determined that the perceptions of single-grade students towards principle values varied compared to the multi-grade students.
