Abstract (EN)
Burial tradition and sarcophagi in Bithynia which is the topic of this study hasn?t been studied in detail until now. This thesis aims to classify the Bithynian sarcophagi and find out their distinctive features, especially the regional characteristics. After the examination of 83 sarcophagi in the museums of Bithynia, seven groups were determined due to the decoration on their chests and it was concluded that sarcophagi had been used in Bithynia in between A.D. first and third centuries during the Roman Imperial Age.
