Abstract (EN)

In the present, to meet increasing energy demands, the river type of hydroelectric power plant (HPP) has begun to replace big dams. Main parameters in site selection for engineering structures, cost-safety / security-time- aesthetic / environmental parameters, should be considered. The planned "Bitlis Regulator and HEPP Project" is one of them. In this study, basic engineering geological studies were carried out in the "Bitlis Regulator and HEPP Projects" site which is planned on the Bitlis creek. The discontinuities were examined and than rock masses were classified in the site of engineering structures. In addition that, 9 boreholes have been drilled in the site of engineering structures and the bearing capacities have been determined. The tunnel portals were analyzed via the kinematic analysis method to determine of the potential failure risks. The importance of the geological and geotechnical parameters have been revealed in the slope stability particularly for high slopes.
