Abstract (EN)
In this thesis study, the possible positive or negative effects on customs transactions if customs transactions are carried out using blockchain technology are discussed. In order to provide conceptual clarity before the application part of the research, theoretical information about the concepts of customs and block chain technology is given and a literature summary including studies on the subject is presented. In the application part of the research, qualitative and quantitative methods were used. In-depth interview, one of the qualitative research methods, and survey model, one of the quantitative research methods, were used. Within the scope of the application, the sample consists of male and female participants with the titles of customs consultant, assistant customs consultant and authorized customs consultant operating in Istanbul. As a result of the thesis study, it has been concluded that with the use of blockchain technology in customs transactions, accuracy in commercial data will be achieved, risk management will be ensured, security will be increased, and inspection of customs transactions violations will be more effective, but it has been revealed that customs sector employees have significant knowledge deficiencies about blockchain technology. Suggestions have been made regarding the use of blockchain technology in customs transactions and the obstacles to it.
